Second Norway Lufthavn Control Tower (07-14)

The Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at Second Norway Lufthavn, Blake Sea.

Air traffic control (ATC) is a service provided by ground-based controllers who direct aircraft on the ground and through controlled airspace, and can provide advisory services to aircraft in non-controlled airspace. The primary purpose of ATC worldwide is to prevent collisions, organize and expedite the flow of traffic, and provide information and other support for pilots.

In Second Life aviation, air traffic control is an optional service provided by the 119.200 MHz and 117.900 MHz groups in-world. The system utilizes ATC bots which interact with pilots via Group Chat and simulate the actions of real-life ATC personnel. The intention of the ATC system is to provide a more immersive experience for aviators.

Large airports such as New Horizons Airport may also provide automated ATC guidance for pilots via local text chat, conveniently directing taxiing aircraft to their respective locations. If in use at a facility, aviators are encouraged to abide by instructions provided via these systems.
