Aztral's Skyport (ICAO: SLAL) was a public skyport which floated seventy meters above the 'Hibdon' region of central Sansara. One of the oldest airports in Second Life, it was dismantled in August 2014 and the land re-purposed.

Landing Advisories

  • Free-floating airport platform above surface. Best approach altitude 75m or above.

Background

Located on the north-east shore of the Sea of Fables, Aztral's Skyport was a large, futuristic facility with access to many nearby protected sims. It was also situated near to the (now abandoned) Teen Grid Welcome Area where teen residents who had turned 18 would rez upon entering the full grid. Design-wise, the skyport had gone through numerous tweaks and redesigns over the course of its existence, slowly expanding to encompass the entirety of the 'Hibdon' region. By the end of its life, the facility had a single runway along the southern edge of its flight-deck, with several hangars clustered on the north of the platform, and a tall terminal/control building situated in between.

Prior to its closure and dismantlement in August 2014, Aztral's Skyport was the oldest "Furry-owned" airport in operation on the Second Life Grid. With the demise of the original Hugsy Penguin Skyport and Amazon Nations Skyport, it was also the longest continuously operating Skyport in Second Life.
