The AW-315C Lama (ICAO: LAMA / WAKE: LIGHT) is a single-engined, light utility helicopter. Created in Second Life by Animate Works, the helicopter was loosely based on the real-life SA 315B Lama manufactured by Aérospatiale of France.

Background

The real-life Lama was designed specifically for the hot-and-high environment of the Indian Armed Forces and combines the lighter Aérospatiale Alouette II airframe with Alouette III components and powerplant. First flown in 1969, the Lama quickly gained popularity among civilian operators around the world needing the high-altitude performance that it brought to the table. Equipped with an 870 shp engine the Lama has an abundance of power and can easily carry a 2,200 lb. external payload over 10,000 feet.[1]

The Animate Works AW-315C Lama is loosely based on its real life counterpart, but is not intended to be an exact replication of it. The aircraft is entirely constructed in mesh, with flight scripting and physics licensed from Patrick Lawson's Real Flight engine. Intended to produce a more realistic flight experience, the script is capable of simulating high altitude flight, auto-rotation, atmospheric pressure, turbulence, and flared landings. The aircraft sits five avatars in total and is equipped with an optional cargo sling.

Features
