The Airco DH.2 is a single-seat biplane "pusher" aircraft. Created in Second Life by Tania Bouvier Motors (TBM), the plane was based on the real-life Airco DH.2, a British fighter aircraft used during the First World War.

Background

The real-life DH.2 was the first effectively armed British single-seat fighter and enabled Royal Flying Corps (RFC) pilots to counter the "Fokker Scourge" that had given the Germans the advantage in the air in late 1915. Until the British developed a synchronisation gear to match the German system, pushers such as the DH.2 and the F.E.2b carried the burden of fighting and escort duties. The majority of DH.2s were fitted with the 100 hp (75 kW) Gnôme Monosoupape rotary engine and were armed with a single .303 in (7.7 mm) Lewis gun.[1]

TBM's replica DH.2 is a highly-detailed, hand-made, mesh model equipped with fully animated components, avatar animations, functioning combat and fuel systems, and a pilot's heads-up display (HUD) with instrument gauges and switches. The aircraft is fully re-texturable and comes with a vintage TBM fuel pump and functioning Gnôme engine test-stand decoration.
