Calleta City Airport (ICAO: SLCY) was a public airport in the Cecropia region of south Heterocera Atoll.

In August 2017 Calleta City Airport was sold and dismantled. A new facility serving the Calleta City area, Smugglers Port, replaced it.

Landing Advisories

  • Short runway advisory.
  • Large wingspan aircraft advisory.
  • Security advisory: Due to a particularly severe problem of campers and griefers occupying the runway to prevent aircraft operation, the runway itself had to be equipped with a 45-second timed security orb. Therefore, pilots were advised to park on the safe tarmac in front of the terminal as soon as they had landed.
  • Taxiways were not present due to space constraints, and the airport had some areas under construction. Rezzing and loading operations could be carried on the tarmac, not on the runway.

Background

Calleta City Airport was one of two airfields (the other one being Hinamizawa Airport) serving the greater Calleta City urban area and southern Heterocera continent. Typical of this area, the facility was surrounded by extensive railway networks. The airfield enjoys direct access to Protected Waterways, and the surrounding sims were also generally safe for air traffic.

The owner of Calleta City Airport, long time resident Ralf Haifisch, was among the founders of Second Air, the first airline in Second Life (coincidentally, another airline with the same name was created in 2014 by another resident). One of the original Second Air airplanes was on display on the south side of tarmac.
