Background

The 'Neobelow' region of central Nautilus became home to an Australian Volunteer Coast-guard station (AVCG) circa mid-2014. It was a relatively simple facility, equipped with eight centrally-located helipads and two administrative/hangar buildings at the south and west corners of the heliport. On the eastern perimeter was an airport beacon, signage and a small military/SAR port. After almost a year of operation, the facility closed in May 2015.
