Olds Air Force Base (shortened to Olds AFB) was a large public military airport spread over the 'Undine West' and 'Undine State' regions of the Undine landmass; a large chain of independent modern combat regions.

Landing Advisories

  • Pilots can only fly to other locations in the Undine landmass from this location.
  • The Undine regions are currently being restructured and public access has temporarily been suspended (effective January 2015).

Background

Olds Air Force Base was officially opened in May 2010 as a region geared towards combat using Amok Dynamics' Modern Combat Environment (MCE) system. The airbase is named after and is dedicated to American fighter pilot Robin Olds (July 14, 1922 – June 14, 2007). A "triple ace", Olds had a combined total of 16 victories in World War II and the Vietnam War.

Originally constructed as one of several airfields located in the Undine landmass (other locations representing each MCE faction), the original Olds AFB was equipped with a single runway stretching across 'Undine West' and 'Undine State'. South and north of the runway were several helipads, a spawn area, a parking apron, an ATC tower, hangars and several destructible structures.

Following owner Aeon Voom's personal difficulties in real-life, the Undine sim-chain was significantly downsized - leaving only the airbase itself, a skybox shopping mall, and the MCE Hub untouched. By September 2014, most of the sims which made up the micro-continent had been taken offline, until only 'Undine State' and 'Undine West' remained. In January 2015 the final regions, including Olds AFB, were closed to the public - presumably for restructuring.
