Sparrow Field (ICAO: SL--) was a small public airport located in the 'Dogoog' region of southern Nautilus. Originally home to Black Dog Industries, it has since changed ownership and the land has become a small private airstrip.
- Runway was at 21m elevation, minimum recommended approach was 31m.
- Runway was darkly coloured and was said to be difficult to see during night landings.
Constructed by Rael Ellisson in August 2009, Sparrow Field was a small airport with original hangers, terminals, and other buildings in an art deco architectural style. Wanting to experiment with scale, Ellisson built a small airport in a big space, preserving some of the openness of a real-life airport.
From Sparrow, it was possible to access hundreds of linden ocean regions that surround Nautilus City as well as the "Big Fish" or "North Sea" Ocean, and of course the Blake Sea. Initially, outside of the Blake Sea, there was only Zee West and the old airport at Strugatsky, but soon came Sparrow, New Horizons, Kinrara, Acknefar, Baitoushan, and many other independent airports.
Best approached from the east, Sparrow Field was open to the public, with a 20 minute auto-return policy. Initially Ellisson ran some group flights and other events at Sparrow Field, but such time-consuming activities declined over its lifespan. Likewise, the airport initially provided rental hangers, but by early 2012 days they were used exclusively by some of Ellisson's older Second Life friends. Throughout its life, the airfield was the home of Black Dog Industries, where the owner and Katrina Keyes sold aircraft, contributing towards the region's steep rental tier.
The following list includes all scheduled services to and from Sparrow Field. Other non-scheduled charter flights may have been available on request.
